This January we’d like to invite you back to the ‘ELTABB Staff Room’. This is a type of workshop for teachers who have teaching ideas worth discussing or developing in small groups.
Ask Business English trainers what they like about their work and they’ll likely describe how fulfilling it is to see what they teach put directly to use. Straight from the classroom into the working lives of our learners, BE has an immediacy that makes teaching feel hugely important. So why is it hard to inverse the equation and get BE learners to bring their own work into the classroom? And when they do bring something in, how do we as teachers incorporate it into meaningful language practice for the whole class? What techniques have you had success with? What challenges have you come against? In this Staff Room event, we ask you to bring your own questions, answers, ideas and experiences to share and discuss with other teaching professionals.
It is no secret that as freelancers we don’t have much contact to other teachers, but if we do from time to time it can be in a frantic rush with little time to discuss lesson activities in detail, leaving us perhaps better described as ships passing in the night. If you can relate to this and think you might benefit from a little more colleague contact, we’d love to have your input at this interactive workshop.
