I make learning English as simple and enjoyable as possible. People learning English want an opportunity to speak, to be corrected and learn new vocabulary. They want an interested and engaging teacher who listens to them, asks questions and is a good conversation partner. They want interesting lesson material which matches their interests and their needs. This is my experience from ten years of teaching English to adults and this is what I offer.
When I moved from England to Germany in 2014 I decided I wanted to help people improve their English. I gave up my career as an architect, I retrained as a teacher and began offering one to one and group lessons to adults in Berlin. I found I really enjoyed getting to know people, helping them relax and building their confidence and knowledge of English.
For me, teaching English is a fascinating job, and I find it very rewarding getting to know each of my students and tailoring my lessons to their particular interests and requirements.
Before becoming an English teacher, I studied architecture at Cambridge University and worked for 15 years as an architect in London. I speak both English and German in my everyday life and have dual British and German citizenship.
My varied work experience has shown me how important good communication is and how easily misunderstandings can occur. Living in Germany and maintaining contact with the UK and the USA enables me to understand the similarities between the cultures along with the differences, and how these are reflected in the respective languages.
