Come join us for an online workshop with Oksana Hera on workplace communication on Saturday, 7 November at 10:00 A.M.
Receiving a request from a potential client may be both exciting and confusing, as their actual needs, wishes, and expectations about the training they are looking for may well be worlds apart. Once the trainer embarks on the journey of exploring the optimal approaches, they become a member of a team that should share both goals and responsibility for reaching them.
In this workshop I will offer a selection of learners’ profiles that will serve as a basis for reflecting and working on how business English trainers can help them effectively.
I will also invite the participants to work on a series of samples of internal company documentation and try out several practical activities I have been using to teach emailing and texting.
Most examples come from IT industry and cover online communication, face-to-face encounters, intercultural challenges, as well as general English elements that can be incorporated when teaching English to adults.
Bio: Oksana Hera is a business English and intercultural communication trainer from Lviv, Ukraine. She holds a Cert IBET, an MA (Hons) in Linguistics, Translation and Interpreting from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, a Business Cultural Trainer’s Certificate from International House London, and a CELTA.
Working primarily with IT professionals, Oksana designs materials for corporate groups and takes interest in strategies to enhance in-company training, learners’ assessment and motivation, and how to meaningfully incorporate technology in the learning and training process.
Oksana volunteers as an IATEFL BESIG Joint Web and Online Team Coordinator, blogs at languagetoconnect.com , and runs a learner-oriented ‘Movies by Levels’ website.
